Scouting for Goals march on!

Week 3’s games saw league leaders Scouting for Goals continue their 100% record after they beat The Rebel Alliance in a game where they controlled almost throughout.

Taking an early lead, they never really looked in trouble despite the relatively close scoreline of 8-5. New player Ryan Jones proved a handful for the patchy Rebel’s defence and the general energy levels of SFG was too much to handle.

There were some bright spots for the Rebels but overall they were outfought for most of the game. They’ll be looking for their first points against Borussia Maestegladbach in week 4 while Scouting for Goals will hope to keep up their impressive start with a game against fellow unbeaten team Crowninthians FC.

The night started with new boys Olden But Golden battling to a very well contested 4-4 draw versus Park Arabs. Both teams took the initiative at different points during the game and a draw was probably a fair result. Lewis Kingdon kept up his early claim for the golden boot with another brace and man of the match performance for the Park Arabs, and they will look to build on their last 2 performances in week 4 when they face The Vaders.

Olden But Golden face Sports Centre United in their second match in an intriguing game between experience and youth. SPU will hope to get some points on the board soon and if they can use their young energy to their advantage they just might do so here. They just fell short this week with a 6-4 loss to Borussia Maestegladbach but that was a much improved result compared to previous weeks. Olden But Golden look like a tough nut to crack, though, and will use all their experience to their advantage.

Borussia Maestegladbach got their season up and running and finally got some goals scored after a slow start. They will look to build on that against The Rebels in week 4 in what looks like a pretty even match.

The final match saw league favourites, Crowninthians FC, finally brush aside The Vaders. The game ending 7-0. They started brightly and went ahead within 30 seconds, but The Vaders put up a great fight and, even after getting star striker Robbie Walters sent off on around the 10 minute mark, managed to keep the game at 1-0 for 25/30 minutes. It was then that Crowninthians managed to make their numbers count as they piled pressure on The Vaders goal and finally started to bang them in. They went down to 7 too, Ashley Williams spending 5 minutes on the sideline after seeing yellow, but The Vaders could not capitalise on being on even terms.

Week 4 looks exciting, with the top 2 teams Scouting for Goals and Crowninthians kicking us off at 6pm. Someone’s 0 must go!
