New Format for 2015
Since the success of last season and the massive interest in this year’s tournament, we have extended the league to 10 teams for 2015.
And as 10 teams in a standard league format would take up 18 weeks, which is way too long due to commitments to next year’s football and rugby seasons, the format is going to be slightly different.
This year will look like this:
- 2 groups of 5 teams, playing each other twice (taking 12 weeks to complete)
- Week 13 the top 4 from each league will compete in quarter-finals
- Week 14 we will have the 2 semi-finals
- Week 15 will be 3rd and 4th play-off, and then the final
- There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
The draw for the 2 groups will be made at the Crown on Thursday 23 April, home of the current champions Crowninthians FC.
The Quarter-finals will be set out as follows: The team finishing in 1st of Group 1 will play 4th place of Group 2, 2nd place of Group 1 will play 3rd place of Group 2, and vice versa (this has been amended slightly from previous format after a slight re-think). The semi-finals will be a draw out of a hat.
