Gnat the best of nights
First and foremost we’d like to send well wishes to the fella from Scouting for Goals after suffering a dislocated knee, we hope he recovers soon. And thanks to everyone else for their help with the incident and then the patience for the rest of the night.
The biggest pain the delay from the injury caused us was playing later than usual meant more gnats. Loads more gnats. Dicks.
Game 1 was going well, FC Snorkel taking a 2-0 lead thanks to 2 Nathan Smith strikes, and then the horrible injury came just at the stroke of half time. Scouting also lost Geraint Dyment to injury too and they’ll be hoping it wasn’t serious as he’ll be a big miss for them. After an hours break the second half kicked off and Snorkel took over, bagging another 3 goals with no reply in the shortened half. They now have 2 wins from 2 and have not conceded a goal. Good effort.
Game 2 was a good one. FC Maesteg taking an early lead but the Park Arabs proved too good in the end, finishing 6-3 winners thanks to some good work from the usual suspects. There was also a great display of goalkeeping as FC’s Cal Williams pulled off a string of great saves. FC are still searching for their first win but have had a tough start so there’s plenty to look forward to.
The Vaders managed to complete their second game without a goal, which may be a record, despite maybe edging the game overall. Rhodri Thomas providing stiff resistance in goal for the Honey Badger. Lloyd Jenkins popped up with 2 nicely drilled goals to shoot down his Sunday League team mates as the game finished 2-0. The Vaders face Crowninthians next week so will need to improve markedly if they are to get their first points on the board. Honey Badger keep a 100% record along with the other winners from last week.
The final game was a very interesting one – Borussia Teeth scored an early goal and then put numbers behind the ball as they frustrated the current champions with some solid defending. Morgan Thomas got a goal back but the Crown found it difficult to break Borussia down as they searched for the winning goal. Borussia themselves had 2 or 3 clear cut chances for Jordan Tompkinson and Bradley Thomas but couldn’t quite find the net. When Ashton Evans missed a penalty for the Crown it looked like a draw was on the cards but Kieran Miller stepped up with a brilliant solo effort to take all 3 points with around 30 seconds left.
Week 3 fixtures look like this: Scouting for Goals v Honey Badger, FC Maesteg v Borussia Teeth, Crowninthians v The Vaders and Park Arabs v FC Snorkel.
