Great to be back!
It hadn’t seemed like a year had passed already but it still felt good to be back on the Celtic astro. The buzz was just as big as always and there was plenty of good football on show.
The early kick off saw the fancied Park Arabs get their first 3 points on the board, finally pulling clear of Scouting for Goals in the last 10 minutes of a tight match thanks to some lovely play from Nathan Whelan, Lee Jones and Kurt Vincent. As usual, the Arabs took a while to get going but their quality showed in the end, winning 6-3. Scouting can be positive too, proving they are still tough to break down and always dangerous going forward.
Game 2 was a tale of two goalkeepers on top form as the Honey Badger boys peppered new boys’ Borussia Teeth’s goal with shots from all angles, with Rhodri Thomas having to make a number of good saves for the Badgers too. There was some nice finishing for the goals and Borussia showed some promise even in losing 3-1. They will get better over the next few weeks as they get settled and used to the league.
Reigning champs Crowninthians turned up the heat on FC Maesteg, our other new entrants, with Chris Lewis showing his deadly finishing yet again to fire them to a 7-3 win. There’ll be more to come from both teams and FC shouldn’t be too disheartened as there’s easier games ahead of them for sure.
The final game of the evening saw FC Snorkel dominate a very poor Vaders team, running out 7-0 winners. With The Vaders in disarray all over the pitch, Nathan Smith proved as deadly as last season, racking up 4 goals while Luke Howells run the midfield. The Snorkel boys are very organised and have a style that’s difficult to beat – they will surely be pushing for top spots if they can keep it up.
Next week sees Scouting for Goals v FC Snorkel, Park Arabs v FC Maesteg, The Vaders v Honey Badger and Borussia Teeth v Crowninthians. See you then.
