Respect
In the first two weeks of this year’s competition, there has been an increased amount of animosity towards the referee and other players, even spreading to social media.
Refereeing any game of football is a tough job, and with the added pressure of the speed on astro turf, different rules to 11v11 and the greater need to protect players on a hard surface, we ask everyone involved to please show a little more respect towards the referee and opponents.
We love the friendly banter between teams and hope this can continue along with the competitiveness of the football on display, but please be mindful of others and the fact that none of the match officials or organisers are rooting for or against any particular team. Mistakes will happen, and they will happen to all teams, nobody is being singled out.
There was also allegedly a spitting incident last week and that will not be tolerated. Any further incidents will result in offending players being banned.
