Trophy name announcement!
After getting approval from his son and Sports Centre United player, Ieuan, we are pleased to announce that our League Trophy will be named after our late friend, Jason Thomas.
The Trophy will be called ‘The Jay ‘Elvis’ Thomas Memorial Shield’ and will be presented to the league winners at the end of season presentation evening. We have not chosen the design yet but it will be a shield with multiple plaques which will be engraved with the league winners each season (yes, hopefully we will do this every off-season), and the winners will get to keep it for a year until the following season begins.
Most of you will know Jay and many of you are friends, so we thought it would be good to celebrate his memory with this trophy as he loved football so much and so many of us either played football with him or against him. We also plan to raise some money during our presentation evening for a charity which we will ask Jay’s family to nominate.
We will be announcing details of the presentation evening in the coming weeks, so keep checking back for updates.
